Patient Reviews

I first met Dr. Ganta a couple of years ago when I went to seminar in his office. I had been looking at weight loss surgery for several years and was getting closer to making the decision to do it. He didn’t say too awful much beyond the mechanics of the surgery, but he came off as a very competent, reserved and caring surgeon. When I made the decision earlier this year to do it, I did not hesitate and made an appointment with Ganta. I should say that I had contacted others, but the office wouldn’t stop mailing or emailing me. I was impressed that Ganta’s office sent me mailing list stuff, but took me off when asked and they didn’t push. It was my decision and they left me alone to make it. Having said that, they still had all of my information from the seminar so getting an appointment was easy.

Even though I was self-pay, I was still required to do a fitness and psyche evaluation (all done in his office) and meet with a nutritionist. I liked that. It made me get more prepared and also made me realize that I needed more help to deal with the emotional aspects so I went out and found a counselor to meet with (which I highly recommend to everyone, she keeps me in my right head space). The psychology, fitness and nutrition appointments all went very well, I get the feeling Dr. Ganta likes good people around him and goes to lengths to obtain that.

My only negative about the office is that they sometimes take a long time to reply to emails or they lose them. None of the important ones, but sometimes general questions seem to go into the ether. I had a few times that I had to send a follow up email a week later to get an answer. As someone that works mostly through email, I do wish they were a little more responsive. Anytime I need anything immediate, I usually call and they’re very responsive by phone though!

My first one on one meeting with Dr. Ganta was during my consult. I have never felt so un-rushed in my entire life. He acted as though I was the only patient he had that day and was more than willing to sit there for as long as I needed to talk about options and answer my questions. He also asked me questions about what I knew of each procedure, gave me additional information, asked what procedure I thought I wanted and then asked me questions as to why. So, he wasn’t there to just sign or do whatever I wanted, he wanted me to really think about what I was doing and why. At the end of the day, he agreed with what I wanted for the reasons I laid out, but he also gave me some additional food for thought as far as complications that I hadn’t considered. I left there feeling very confident in my choice of surgeons and in his ability.

I will tell you that he comes off very reserved and quiet. Which kind of means when he says something, you listen because it’s going to be important. His bedside manner is very gentle and matter-of-fact. At first I thought he might not have a sense of humor, but he certainly does, it’s just a little dark and dry, which I kinda like. During our consult I mentioned that I knew he had a low rate of complications, leaks, etc. He said, “oh, we’ve had a few leaks, but I haven’t lost anyone yet”. It was the perfect thing to say to me because I’ve got that slightly off-kilter humor myself and I was a little nervous. I like that he was able to read that.

Having said that, if you need a surgeon that is all hugs and rainbows, Dr. Ganta might not be the right one for you. I wanted someone that I would (literally) feel comfortable putting my life in their hands and he was the right person for that. His office staff definitely makes up for any rainbows you are missing. That’s not to say he doesn’t have a great personality, he’s just a little more reserved, but he listens and he’s even cracked a smile and joke now and then.

I saw him once again at the pre-op appointment a few days before surgery and, again, he was unhurried and I felt like he would have been more than happy to sit there and answer my questions until I was fully satisfied and okay. I like that. All too often, doctors seem to be in a really big hurry and I feel bad for asking questions. He wasn’t like that at all. I was free to ask anything I needed. I even had a small list – some were probably silly questions – but he didn’t mind answering them and then making sure I understood. This does translate to him running behind quite a bit, so you’ll have a wait in the waiting room, more than likely, but it’s a trade off that I’m willing to accept.

He was great before surgery, he stopped in, made sure I was okay, reminded me what we were going to do. Let my husband know how long he expected it to take, made sure he had a way to get in touch with him afterwards, etc. I didn’t see him again until discharge the next day where he made sure I understood all the post op instructions, made sure I had a follow up appointment scheduled and smiled and wished me well along the way.

I did have to call a few days after surgery because of nasty muscle pain that won’t go away and the Lortab wasn’t helping. It was after hours and he answered the phone himself. He listened and then called in an additional medication. He answered the phone himself – I was impressed with that. I didn’t have to wait 30 minutes. I didn’t have to explain my problem to several people until someone finally let me talk to the doctor. He answered. He handled it.

He seems to take after-care very seriously. In fact, for his cash pay clients, he includes a year of follow up. His pre-op and post-op diet is very strict and seems to be slightly more strict than others I’ve seen online. He did his part and he fully expects you to be accountable for doing your part. This has been true as I moved up to each level of food and beyond. I’m currently about 7 months out and have found his no nonsense refreshing. He did his part, now it’s my turn to do mine.

I love the office. They always remember who I am, always smile, always say I look great (cuz I do, darn it!), and are very laid back. Dr. Ganta is always warm and inviting, he’s still reserved a bit, but he can laugh with me while giving me pointers on what I need to be doing and things I can try as time goes on and this whole journey continues to take shape.

Overall, I’ve been very impressed with him and his office and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others (and already have!). I’ve done a lot of research on bariatrics in Austin – a whole lot. I can honestly say that THIS is the right doctor if you are in Austin. Do your research, look for people’s experiences, you’ll find Dr. Ganta to be tops in the area, heck maybe the state.

Update at 18 months post-op: Still loving this man. I’ve lost nearly 200 pounds. He gave me my life back and probably saved my life. More than that, he’s an awesome surgeon. At my last appointment I even made laugh and got a hug on the way out. It’s odd, but I want to make him proud. He did good work and so have I. We BOTH should be proud :)

Update at 2 years post-op: I’m now in maintenance mode, having lost a total of 220-225 pounds! I’m at a healthy BMI, although the upper range of my normal, but a plastic surgeon has said he’d remove around ten pounds, so that would put me right where I want to be. Life is good and follow-ups with Dr. Ganta have been helpful. He’s almost always running behind, I stick with him because he truly is the best, but hopefully they will work out those kinks :)

I first contacted my surgeon in May of 2006 after attending a conference at St. David’s in Austin, TX. I was very happy at being able to get an appointment in only 2 days! Dr. Ganta was new to the area at that time but I was able to find him on the internet and read reviews about him and I was happy and felt very informed on my choice. His office is well established now and even though I do not have to follow up with him anymore I still have a little contact with the office due to the fact that he has also done surgery on my mother and sister. Dr. Ganta’s aftercare diet was very strict but very effective. I know several people who have had bariatric surgery at another major hospital in central Texas. Their diet was very different and guess what….they did not lose the weight and keep it off the way I did by following Dr. Ganta’s “rules”.

I am a registered nurse and I “investigated” the gastric bypass surgery thoroughly before deciding to have it. I am EXTREMELY glad that I chose Dr. Ganta. To me, he is a life saver and I will remember him always. If in the future I ever need any kind of surgery that he is qualified to do I will definitely return to his care. On a scale of 1-10? He is a 20!!!!

cheryl0413

Dr. Ganta is a phenomenal surgeon. He is also compassionate AND competent….and I am a tough critic being an RN for 20+ years. He truly listens and that is rare. His surgical skills are well beyond his years of experience. I recommend Dr. Ganta without reservation.

When I first met Dr. Ganta he seemed very serious and matter-of-fact. But as I kept coming to the office for visits, i realized that he has a great sense of humor and I try to find ways to make him smile. He is an awesome physician. I couldn’t have asked for a better surgeon.

The staff is great and seem very eager to help.! Love them all!

Sunchyne14

I highly recommend Dr. Ganta. He is a phenomenal doctor and an even better surgeon. I was so blessed to have found him. I wish for anyone taking this journey to meet and work with Dr. Ganta. As for his office staff, there were some problems at the beginning of my journey, but they have since worked out the kinks and I just love all the people who work in his office. I wish everyone luck on their journey and hope everyone has the opportunity to meet Dr. G! :-)

I love Dr Ganta. He is funny in his own quite way, he is very informative and very, very smart. I just love going to see him. He took great care of me and still continues to 7 months post surgery. I love his office staff, and how they make me feel when I visit. I would recommend Dr. Ganta to everyone looking to gain control over food. He is the real deal. I trust him 100%. I want to let everyone know you can trust him too, and you’ll know that after the first meeting. Go ahead and ask him anything you want, and come prepare with your questions written down, as I do everytime. He is very knowledgeable, quite, professional, respectful and very funny. I really love my doctor, Dr Ganta!

Dr. Ganta was the first doctor I met with (Aug 2009), after several attempts to get a consult in one of the large bariatric practices in town. To get a consult required 2+ hr commitment up front, which did not fit with my expectations of my relationship with the doctor, practice, or my own time allowance.

Dr. Ganta is reserved, wanting patients to make their own informed choices. For me, he placed all of the procedures side by side, as he was aware I had done research, though one of the research choices was still causing me anxiety. He asked why, laid out the facts, and asked me to read more, now that I understood better.

That choice was for the DS (Dec 2009). He did not push me to the choice at all, but when I came back after a couple of weeks and had selected the DS, he was glad I had made such a choice, and confirmed that he thought I would be an excellent candidate, considering my BMI, general good health, mental attitude, and primary stated desire to remove myself from insulin.

The 3 mos program was fairly pedestrian, and could use some more work to clearly distinguish the expectations, requirements, anticipated diets, and anecdotal experiences between different procedures. The staff, while polite and nice, seemed overwhelmed, and there was no support group. When I asked post-op to talk to someone, the staff certainly responded. All calls were taken, even if there was not much recommendation forthcoming on how to deal well with my lactose intolerance and general lack of diet I could keep down.

However, with the changes in staff, there is certainly more focus on post-op care, including the return of the support group. Even having pre-ops in the support meeting is of key help. Kudos to Dr. Ganta, Emily, and Pam for listening to the patient base and recognizing the need – and following up with active changes. Hopefully the staff’s paperwork for pre- and post- op dietary needs expands as well. It is a conservative post-op regimen, so be prepared.

The staff is always ready to assist, and Dr. Ganta is a more than competent surgeon – he’s quite brilliant. He also listens well in meetings, never seeming to rush the patient. With the new additions to staff, the care will cease being reactive and become far more proactive, and match the quality of the surgeon at the center of it.

I would highly recommend this surgeon, the growing practice, ask the patient to be very educated and dedicated to their WLS care plans, and always tell Dr. Ganta his/her concerns or your own proactive care planning.

Continued good wishes to the AIBL team.

When I first met Dr. Ganta he was solemn and stright to the point. I wondered if I’d be able to get along with him but Dr. Ganta has been kind and helpful through this process. He answers my questions with patience. I would recommend him to any one looking for a surgeon.

Deb O.

Dr. Ganta and his staff are very professional. I was at ease after meeting with Dr. Ganta about my WLS choice. He sat down with me during our consultation and really took the time to explain everything. He also answered all of my questions well. I look forward to working with Dr. Ganta and his staff through my weight loss journey. I highly reccomend him to everyone!

What I respected and admired most (luved) about Dr. Ganta:

  1. He is very upfront and honest.
  2. He knows his “stuff”.
  3. He is very precise and precautious, which puts the patient at a great advantage for being well taken care of.
  4. He knows his “stuff”. He is extremely knowledgeable about bariatrics in general, not just surgeries. He was able to address a lot of my comorbidity issues as needed.
  5. He is very “matter-of-fact”. Don’t look for sugar-coated pipe dreams (although, I wanted to hear them sometimes). You will get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
  6. He takes EVERYTHING into account about you; the good, bad, and ugly to determine if you are a candidate for any procedure.

Bottom line: Dr. Ganta is an extremely competent surgeon. I would choose him again and again.

kkjordan78

Dr. Clark has been amazing throughout the whole experience. I would recommend him to anyone. He is very knowledgeable, experienced, and caring.

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was that he was serious and somber. I’ve come to realize that he has a wicked sense of humor even if you don’t see it all the time.

I don’t think that Dr. Ganta is a “touchy-feely” doctor. He is straight-forward, honest and respectful. He doesn’t seem liked he’d put up with much bull. I respect that in him a great deal. It makes me feel like he expects me to be totally honest to myself and him. As expected, this reserved demeanor is evident in his bedside manner as well.

If you are looking for doctor who is going to gush or hover over you, Dr. Ganta is not a good fit. If you are looking for a doctor who is calm, meticulous and thoughtful then Dr. Ganta may be your man. He answered all of my questions, really took the time to make sure that I understood the risks in my surgery options. I waffled on my choice of surgery types. He pressed me to be sure of my choice since I’d changed my mind several times. He was satisified when I was able to clearly articulate the reasons behind my choice, the risks involved and my perceived benefits.

His staff are a perfect complement to his personality, enriching his practice. They express all the vibrancy, enthusiasm and emotion that he he does not. They definitely show his ‘softer’ side. Their exuberance for your commitment and journey are regularly shared. They never fail to cheer you on and help you find the positives. All are very professional in their manner and performance – just with a bright smile.

I would also like to add that the patient support group has good and diverse topics. The members drive the choices of topics. It is coordinated by a combination of patients and office staff. The membership is quite diverse which leads to insightful discussions. They have also expanded the support group by creating walking and running groups.

I have considered doing surgery for years. I have even talked to several different doctors about different options and backed out at the last minute. I finally took the plunge last week on 7/14/10. Dr. Ganta was my surgeon and I have to say that he is nothing less than amazing! I have several co-workers that had their lap band done by Dr. Ganta and highly recommended him. I am so glad that I took their advice! One of my many concerns was recovery, in the past I have not done well with healing from surgeries. I have to say this was the easiest surgery I have ever had done in my life and the down time was nothing at all. The best advice that I received from Dr. Ganta was to get up and get moving IMMEDIATELY. Me being a literal person I took it literally, the afternoon after surgery I walked the hall in the hospitals. I was released the next day and that night my husband and I walked the block. I have not stopped moving since! Friends that had the same surgery said “how the heck are you doing that?”. Bottom line, getting up and getting moving is the quickest way to recovery. Take it slow and don’t over do it… but get moving! I had several health concerns that ultimately helped me to decide to go forward with the surgery, high blood pressure, thyroid problems, bad knees, bad back, fibromyalga etc. Bottom line my weight was the factor for all of these. So far I have lost 21lbs and I feel great. My husband asked “where is my wife and what have you done with her”. He was so used to me coming home from work and just laying around because I felt so terrible. I feel like I owe Dr. Ganta everything, I honestly believe that he gave me a new lease on life! If you are considering doing surgery go see him, his team is amazing! There is not one person in his office that does not treat you like you are family, they genuinely care. If you are like me and work full time, sometimes crazy hours… well they even work on Saturdays. I have no doubt that with the help of his team I will not only meet but exceed the goals I have set for myself. Thank you Dr. Ganta and team!

kimdanjou

I had my RNY 9-8-2009. To date, I have lost 113 pounds from my peak!

Dr. Ganta was the second surgeon I visited. The first was with a large surgical group here in Austin, and I just didn’t feel “the fit.” After meeting with Dr. Ganta, and thoroughly exploring my surgical options, I decided he was the right man for the job.

Very quiet and unassuming, he is an excellent technical surgeon. He is also very to the point, and was helpful in providing enough information that I could make an informed decision on which procedure I wanted.

The office staff is very helpful, even though there has been a changeover in a couple of positions.

I would like to commend Emily and Pam for actively resurrecting the AIBL support group, and strongly advise anyone considering bariatric surgery to visit the support group before surgery to visit with existing patients, and to continue as a member of the group as you progress in your new life! I think the support group was the one thing that was really lacking in my pre-surgery care. But there is definitely a move to correct that!

I checked out 2 other surgeons before picking Dr Ganta. Whereas I felt pressured to have one surgery or another, with Dr Ganta, he was VERY objective about each surgical option. In fact, I learned information from him, and I thought I was extremely well-versed in all the procedures! He gave the pros/cons of each one and didn’t lean one way or the other. He spends one on one time with each new patients (rather than just a \”seminar\” filled with 50 people). He allows you to take as much time as you want to ask questions. The surgery went extremely well. In looking at his credentials, he seems to be very well trained. He just doesn’t have surgical training; he has extra credentials in laparascopics and obesity surgery. I am in the medical field myself and felt very safe in his hands. His office staff is phenomenal; not only very friendly and supportive but very good at returning calls right away and getting administrative stuff done. The only slight negativity (and this is very slight – like a B- instead of an A) is that the nutrionist seems very young. I don’t know if she’s ever been obese before, and this makes me feel uncomfortable, although it may be a personal thing. Otherwise, I would highly recommend Dr Ganta and his staff.

Jaustin

Dr. Ganta is a wonderful surgeon. I had my gastric bypass surgery on June 10, 2008 and I haven’t had very many problems. At first, I was a little tired but that is normal. Before having the surgery, I did my research on many doctors before I chose him. Everytime I go into his office for a checkup the office staff is always very pleasant and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Dr. Ganta.

When I first met Dr.Ganta, his practice was in Harvard, Il. My mission was not to find a Bariatric Surgeon. I was going to my younger sister’s consultation,to try and find someway to discredit this \”guy\”so she would get this silly notion of WLS out of her head(sorry Dr.Ganta). Afterall i’m the nurse, and have dealt with Dr’s on almost a daily basis for many years. I’d keep my mouth shut during her consultation and give her a list of things, after she was done. Well the exact opposite occured, that very day I made the decision to have WLS,and this was the Surgeon for me. Nevermind the fact that i work for a Hospital that performed the same WLS and whatever insurance didn’t pay, they would write off(since i was an employee).Dr.Ganta was/is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, easy to get along with and compassionate Surgeon i’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. You will feel as if you have known him forever, the first time you meet him.He explains things in easy to understand terminology, making sure you know exactly what he plans on doing and why.Goes over the benefits of,and the risks involved of the WLS you have chosen for yourself. His office staff at that time was very polite and helpful.I’ve recently returned from Austin,Texas,i flew down to have my 4 year follow up(my sister went also,to have her 4 year as well). His office staff is just as polite and accommodating at his new practice.I found Dr. to be just as soft spoken, thorough and caring as he was when i last saw him. I’m confident that once you meet Dr.Ganta and spend sometime talking with him,you too will make the decision to have him perform your WLS. You will receive the best care during and after your surgery, you could ask for.If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at mabuzz85@yahoo.com. I might add that i have every intention of having my 5 year follow up with Dr.Ganta, despite the 4-5 hour flight. You can also e-mail Dr.Ganta,he actually responds in a very timely matter.

I had my first meeting with Dr. Ganta in the spring of 06′. He had just moved his paractice from Chicago and was starting anew in Texas. I must start out by explaining that I had searched for months for a Dr. to perform lap DS and had even contemplated going to Germany! I am SOOOO glad I didn’t, I stumbled upon Dr. Ganta online and he was the first surgeon I found performing lap DS in TX. My initial meeting w/ him was very positive, and I made up my mind this was the surgery and surgeon for me. Imagine my surprise when I found out I would be his first DS patient!! The proverbial guinea pig, it honestly required a lot of faith on my part but I knew after researching his credentials somebody had to go first and it would be me!! He called in a colleague from Chicago to observe which made me realize how serious and professional he was about my procedure. Please also take into consideration he had studied and assisted w/ many DS surgeries prior to this, just had not performed one entirely on his own. Thus the skills were well honed he just had to be presented w/ the correct patient and I was it. Not only is Dr. Ganta a great surgeon he is a very nice person, and his staff are extremely accomodating. Joy and Dana are the best!! I drive in 2 1/2 hours for all appt’s and they have worked w/ me the entire time, plus working overtime to ensure my comfort while I recovered in Austin. If you live in TX or surrounding states he comes highly recommended!!! I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have!!!

I chose Dr. Ganta to do my gastric bypass for several reasons. First, he is a skilled and experienced bariatric surgeon. He is respected by his peers as an expert in suturing – a skill critical to successful WLS. Second, I felt from the beginning that Dr. Ganta was/is truly committed to giving his patients the best possible care before, during, and after hospitalization. Third, he is the only surgeon in Austin that specializes in bariatric surgery. There are other doctors in Austin that do WLS, but it isn’t necessarily their primary focus. I wanted a doctor that was committed enough to WLS to devote their practice to it full time. Fourth, he was serious about the risks associated with WLS, encouraged questions, and required extensive testing prior to surgery. He wants his patients to be well informed before making a decision about surgery and be committed to following his guidelines after surgery. I am now at 7 weeks post-op and continue to be extremely pleased with the care I have received from Dr. Ganta and his staff. I have had no complications – not even nausea. I was off all pain medication the day after my two day stay in the hospital. He and his staff continue to be very willing to help me with any questions or concerns I have. They promptly return phone calls and e-mails. Dr. Ganta has been very sensitive to the fact that I was self-pay and has helped me to keep costs at a minimum while still receiving quality care. I have been impressed by the level of personal attention I’ve gotten from Dr. Ganta during the entire process. It has been more than I’ve received from any other doctor or physician’s assistant – much less a surgeon. It’s clear to me that he is committed to my success as his WLS patient. He has also stayed in communication with my primary care doctor about my care. Dr. Ganta is very serious about his work while being compassionate and caring towards his patients. We are fortunate he decided to move his practice to Austin!

I had actualy been to three other seminars before hearing about Dr Ganta. Someone on line referred me to Dr Ganta and when I called his office I was really suprised that HE answered the phone. I spoke with him for about 30 mins and then set up a consult with him. I have special concerns about the lapband procedure because of previous liver surgery. We discussed all of this during a two hour consult and I do believe I am in the best hands possible. He is a relatively young guy who has won awards and taught other surgeons advanced laproscopy suturing. He also specializes in revising previously failed bariatric procedures as well as many other surgery types. I liked him so much that I immediately set up an appointment for my husband we went in and spent another two hour consult with him. He is very through explaining everything in detail and genuinely cares about his patients.

BlueNagi
  1. He was very knowledgeable and thorough on the subject.
  2. I felt more comfortable as time when on.
  3. They were very compassionate and caring.
  4. NOTHING!
  5. He is very very good at his profesion.
  6. On a scale 1 to 10, 10.
  7. Yes
  8. In the office consultation and explains all the risks. Actually each time you meet with him he goes over all the details of surgery before and after results.
  9. 1 to 10, 10.
  10. Both are great!

My name is Debbie Salman. I first met Dr. Ganta and a introductory seminar held at the Harvard Bariatric center. Of course his a thin man and soft spoken, but when it comes to talking surgery his concern and confidence comes thru. He is direct in a caring way. Makes sure you know the risks involved. He asked my two or three times (in different ways) if I understood the risks and was I willing to proceed knowing those risks. When I told him yes, he then went on to the benefits. He is right to the point. The said that if YOU don’t follow the plan to the letter, the tool will not work. I feel he is sincere and is willing to help anyone who comes to him with the sincere attitude of wanting to lose wt. He is also handsome with a great smile and married to the most beautiful women I have ever seen. If you are searching for someone who will be there thru it all, Dr. Ganta would be my first choice for you.

Debbie Salman

Dr. Ganta was very quiet (and skinny!!) He was very knowledgable and took time to answer questions. He turned out to be very patient and concerned. He even had a sense of humor the more I got to know him. He was and still is very thorough and concerned. I really liked everything about him! The hospital staff were all very wonderful. The only person that was snotty and not very personable, was the pre-cert. nurse. She w I was so scared at first, but they were all so friendly and reassuring. The main things that I would like his future patients to know about him is that he is very strict about WHO he will perform the proceedure on (Lap RNY), and he is very honest with you. The other cool thing about him is that he studied with Dr. Whitgrove (the surgeon who performed Carnie Wilson’s gastric bypass).

Dr. Ganta has a structured follow up program. Two weeks post-op, one month post-op,three months, six months, then once a year. But they HIGHLY encourage attending their monthly support groups.

Lanay M.

WELL MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. GANTA IS GOOD. HE IS VERY CONFIDENT IN HIS WORK AND HAS EASED MY MIND. I FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH HIM. I JUST DID MY CONSULT TODAY AND NOW I’M WAITING ON APPROVAL. YOU SHOULD CHECK HIM OUT.

keysha C.

Dr. Ganta is the absolute best Dr. I’ve ever had. When I was researching surgeons in my area I found him and refused to continue looking. It was either Dr.Ganta that would do my surgery or I just wasn’t going to have surgery at all. His education and experience are what drew me in. Then after meeting him I knew I had made the right decision. He’s very personable and is always willing to listen. And I’m that patient that goes in to every appointment with a list of 50 questions. When it came to my actual surgery I was extremely nervous but he assured me all would be well. I had the most amazing recovery with zero issues. Everyone is different but I didn’t even have pain immediately after. He really is the best and I love his staff as well. I’ve read some reviews that weren’t great about his staff but it seems that he finally has his long term crew and they are all great. Super friendly and always helpful when I need anything.

LisaC512

Dr. Ganta is quiet and reserved, but competent. He has warmed over time. I would rate him as a great surgeon, his surgical competence is better than his bedside manner. His staff are all great.

veradianne

Loved Him. Still dornon a 1-10 I would give him a 9 I like him and his hospital.

kac33ie

Dr Ganta is quite, he likes for you to make your own decissions (what procedure) but does discuss the reasons you made your decision. This way you have ownership in your decision. His staff is very friendly and personable, they would do anything for you. At no time did I question if I was doing the right thing. They all made me feel like I could do this and they would be there to help. Thanks.

debcol512

I had RNY on 10/30/2007 and I lost 140 lbs.. Dr. Ganta absolutely saved my life by agreeing to perform this sugery on me. He has been nothing but professional and caring and always has my best interest and well-being at heart. When my weight loss started off slowly he showed great concern and was able to give me recommendations for what would get the weight loss moving. He has a very wonderful after-care program that works and he is very vigirous about the follow-up labs (VERY IMPORTANT). His staff is wonderful, kind and caring–always available if you need anything. I would very definately recommend him to anyone considering any type of WLS.

jwinrrtx

It has been 1 1/2 yrs after my Lap DS. I have lost 190 lbs.. I have had no complications from the surgery and thank God for being with me and my surgeon.. I have nothing but praise for Dr Ganta and his staff about my surgery. He was very professional and caring.. I would recommend him for anyone in the Austin area wanting bariatric surgery..

kwynns

Dr. Ganta is a straight-forward guy; Very professional. He knows his stuff and he was very patient with me when I asked silly questions, or I had concerns to address. He reassured me that there wasn’t anything he hadn’t already heard, and I will get all the information I need. So far, I have. His staff is very friendly and they are great at remembering who I am when I visit or call.

Scooby1980

I found that my surgeon very informative and courteous. When I first went to him, I wasn’t sure about him because he was a bit abrupt but now I find that he has a sense of humor and is very competent in his field. He has been easy to work with and listens when I talk about my issues. I will have more updates as they year progresses.

ddwherenow

A great surgeon , very smart and felt he was looking out for the best interest of he patient . He came recommened to me by my employer a doc himself. The staff was very nice and get things done in a timely manner. I will recommend this doc and his staff to anyone I know looking to have weight loss surgery.

reb5770

georgiareed

Dr. Ganta is a wonderful caring person and a great surgeon. He really cares about you and what is best for you. I love how he educates his patients, and makes sure that they have the best after care. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is thinking about WLS!

Dejah H.

Dr. Ganta and his staff have been absolutely wonderful. They have made me feel very comfortable with the decision that I have made. The process from start to finish was a breeze. His office made everything happen in a timely matter and Dr. Ganta made my surgery an absolute joy. If you are considering WLS and you are near Austin, TX, I highly recommend Dr. Ganta. He is the best!!

ibman25

He and his office are amazing! You can immediately tell they care about you and your progress!

My first impression of Dr Ganta was that he was a very detailed, serious, and careful doctor. He seemed very confident. He went over the risks of the surgery and spent a long time answering my questions. I never felt rushed. I waited a year, then decided to go ahead with the surgery, changing the type of surgery that I initially wanted. Dr Ganta respected my decision and spent a great deal of time going over everything and answering my questions once again. Over time my experience is that he is a great surgeon, but not so great with the after care support. In my experience, I go in feeling great about myself and leave with the feeling of failure. He did what was most important to me, he gave me a safe surgery. His staff is excellent! Joy is a joy to work with, she is so helpful and very sweet.

Terrilynnh

Dr. Ganta and his staff at Austin Institute of Bariatrics and Laparascopy were absolutely amazing! I have never had any doctor be so caring and truly concerned about his patient. Dr. Ganta was honest, detailed and comprehensive, and very conservative regarding my aftercare instructions. I have no doubts that he will do everything he can to help me succeed with this lap-band, and in return, I will do everything exactly as he instructed. I would never hesitate to refer anyone to him—he is fantastic!

Celeste H.

Dr. Ganta, He is an angel. He is polite, patient, kind and his true desire to help others is obvious from the minute you meet him. His staff is so helpful it made my life so much easier. I would recommend him to anyone considering the surgery! I am 9 months post op and have gone from a size 22 to a size 10 & 8! I am 10 pounds from my goal weight and I cried from pure joy at my last Dr.’s appt. Dr. Ganta has literally saved my life. I actually look forward to every day of my life and want to encourage others to seek the help they may need in living a healthier and better life! Dr. Ganta and staff you are the greatest!

SimonaLisa

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was favorable. He was personable and looked directly at me providing concise and understandable information. My impression of him has not changed post-op. The office staff is outstanding and informative. My surgery took longer than my family was told. When my daughter panicked, Dr. Ganta assured her everything was fine, saying later, he wished he could meet her when she wasn’t so stressed. His humor may be considered a bit dry, but I like it. My aftercare is very good. At five weeks, the Dr. has ordered labs to be assured that I am fine. This works for me!Dr. Ganta has answered my emails at 11PM. He was interested in what I had to say and responded with information and assurance. I would choose him again, not simply because he does the DS lap procedure, but because I believe he is competent.

CookieQueen

Very quiet, professional with no sense of humor. He remains very quiet but saw a smile once or twice. He is so turned in on his important job as a surgeon that I believe that is his whole life. His office staff is wonderful. Everyone that I had to deal with was so helpful and considerate to my needs. Sometimes, I felt like I was the only patient they had. Dr Ganta has a very strict pre-surgery and post surgery regimen and you know he cares about your feelings and outcome of the surgery. He covered all the risks from the surgery. He is not a person that would do this surgery just for the fun nor just for the money. The patient really needs it and must commit to his own care. I love a doctor with a sense of humor but I would prefer a doctor with surgical competence over humor any day. This is a serious time and I take what he does and my life seriously. I could not be happier that I found this doctor for this life changing operation. Thanks to him and his staff for all they have done for me.

Bernadine Morse

My 1st impression of Dr Ganta was good. He was very attentive. Explained thing in a clear and concise way to me. Answered all of my questions. Did not seem rushed. Office staff so far is outstanding. Joy and Alex are truely devoted to thier job. No phone call or question to them makes you feel as if it is a bother. After care is much emphasized and it is stressed that the Lap Band is a \”tool’ not a \”cure’ Dr Ganta did address all surgery risks in a way that I understood them all. To be continuned after surgery……………….

NUBarb45

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was of a simple man that would answer my questions as clearly as possible. Over time that impression has not changed. In my way of thinking, his staff is spectacular! They really treated me like a friend and went the extra mile to help me acheive WLS. They all put me at ease about the procedure and in my opinion, Dr. Ganta’s bedside manner is great! I could tell that the staff at the hospital really respected him and made sure that they followed his instructions to the letter. I am glad that I chose Dr. Ganta as my surgeon in this big step of WLS. :)

Claudia.M

Dr. Raja was very nice. He made sure that I was well informed about the surgery. He wanted to know what I wanted and did not try to force a certain type of surgery on me. I had to watch two presentations on the surgery risks as well as the advantages. I was asked if I understood all of the risks involved however mininmal. I have paid access to online support as well as live support groups. I live in Austin and the support group meetings are in San Antonio. I had my surgery with the Wish Center. They have a very structured pre op program and aftercare program. At my first appointment, I met with the psychologist, nutritionist, exercise specialist and the surgeon. I had to meet with a licensed counselor for four sessions before my second appointment. I was put on a practice diet for two months before my second appt. The practice diet was the same diet that I will follow post op for the rest of my life. I was very pleased with Dr. Raja. He only performs WLS and was very competent. My only complaint was that I did not receive a binder in the hospital to use as I was told that I would receive one. I discovered later that I needed a binder for comfort. I can feel the port and it is very uncomfortable at times. I only had the surgery 2 months ago. So far so good. 12/31/07 I have a new surgeon now. His name is Dr. S. Ganta in Austin, TX. I had to find someone closer to home. I am very pleased with Dr. Ganta and he is doing everything he can to help me to get started again with my weight loss. He is very knowledgeable and answers all of my questions. He takes the time to listen to me and makes sure that I am informed about the whole process.

gsimms50

Dr. Ganta was very professional and a good listener. He was aware before we met of the research I had done on the surgery so our meetings were short and to the point. The surgery went well and I feel confident to be in his care. I was a self pay and he was very careful to find the least expensive places to send me to for pre-op tests & services. His office coordinator Joy was very sweet and helpful whenever I had a question or problem. I would recommend his services to anyone seeking a surgeon in the Austin area, especially someone who does not have insurance coverage.

Robin B.

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was that he was very soft spoken and very serious, not much has changed where that’s concerned. The only time I saw him crack a smile was when I told him I was mad at him for making me drink the Golyghtly the day before my surgery. I am glad to have had him as a surgeon, as he is very cautious and concerned. He is a very caring person and thoroughly explained all of the risks of my surgery including that I may have had to had an open vs lap due to my liver. The fact that he was able to do lap made me very happy. From what I can tell, his aftercare program is one of the strictest, but that’s ok with me, I need all the help I can get! I would recommend him to anyone!

lbostic

I learned of Dr. Ganta at the Weight Loss Seminar at Seton and was immediately impressed by his calm but intelligent manner. There was something about him that was confident without being arrogant. I felt I could believe him, not because he was a smooth talker, but because he was medically competant and experienced. I felt the same way when I met him in person. He doesn’t grill you or spend a lot of time talking about himself. He gets to the point but allows you any questions you might want to ask. This was the first time the office has gone through the motions of getting approval from my insurance company so there were some hoops, bumps and obstacles to getting approval. However, his front office person, Joy was always cool headed and customer service focused as we worked out what needed to get done for approval. In addition, when the insurance process got a little frustrating for me, Dr. Ganta reached out to me himself to apologize and promise to do what he could to get speedy answers. I haven’t had the surgery yet and will update this as the process moves forward, but I would definately recommend Dr. Ganta for anyone who is put off by stiff doctors or doctor offices.

Jennifer H.

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago at Seton Hospital. I chose Dr Ganta, because he was very informative, very serious and even answered the phone himself and had time to answer my questions. It took me two tries to get me approved by Aetna, but Joy stuck with me till the end. For my Post-Up at Seton Hospital, I was taken care off by Linda Martin (Bariatric Coordinator) and all test went like clock work. I will say that this is a fantastic well qualified, dedicated team of medical people who know what they are doing. I stayed overnight after the surgery and was well taken care off. Boy was I happy to see Dr Ganta the next day and told me that the surgery went well and that I was discharged. His soft spoken manner gave me the confidence that I was in very good hands. I will recommend Dr Ganta to anyone who is concidering the WLS. I also like to thank Joy. Glad to have found you Dr. Ganta!!

melati2000

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was he is very personable. He knows his stuff. He was very upfront about everything. He is very good at explaining everything. His office manager Joy was also great. She makes you feel right at home. I will update you later after a few more visits…

tishonna

Dr. Ganta is simply the best! He’s caring, understanding, and most off SMART. I completely trust him and would recommend him to anyone out there.

Deana F.

Dr ganta and his staff(especially Joy) at ABIL are the best. I have been approved and my surgery date is 07/19/2007. If anyone is looking for a surgeon in austin texas. Dr. Ganta is your man.

jazzy_msredd

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was that he was very no nonsense. As i have worked with him I can say that I can now add thorough, careing and concerned to that list. The Office Staff is very friendly and willing to help in ay way they can. Joy is his primary Office person and she is very friendly and personable.

Melvin M.

When I first met Dr. Ganta my first impression was that he was a very serious person. He did not smile and it appeared as if he had no emotion. But as we talked I really began to like him and I guess he looks so serious because he’s serious about his profession. He is very well informed and patient in answering questions. I like to laugh and crack jokes so every now and then I’ll say something funny and he laughs. So I know he does have a since of humor. His office staff is very friendly and Joy really does a good job of handling little things that come up unexpectly. At this time I can not think of anything that I did not like about Dr. Ganta. Dr. Ganta really stresses aftercare and follow up appointments. If you do not follow his instructions then he can not help you to lose weight and reach your goals. He explained that regardless of the type of surgery you choose; all of them have risks and you just have to decide what set of issues you want to deal with or that you are capable of dealing with. Overall I would rate him a ten. He is a very pleasant man and attempts to solve your issues or concerns to help you make the best decision and he appears to have to your best interest in mind. I have referred my friends to him as well.

Stacee

My first impression of Dr. Ganta was that he was very intelligent. He took the time to explain all of the risks of revision surgery to me. My respect for him grew throughout the entire process. My revision surgery was on 2/27/07. Dr. Ganta and I had spoken about open vs. laproscopic procedures. Due to other medical conditions that I have, open surgery would have been very difficult for me to recover from. When he did the surgery, there was a lot of scar tissue already there from my prior open surgery…Dr. Ganta stayed in surgery with me for 8 1/2 hours to remove all of that tissue. He wanted to make sure that I had the best possible recovery. I can’t thank him enough for that. It is now 3 months later and I feel healthier than I have in years. Joy was very helpful throughout the entire process of getting my insurance to cover this surgery for me. (I started out as a self pay patient) This staff helped immensely in showing the insurance company that it was medically necessary for me to have the surgery. Dr. Ganta’s main concern is his patients health. If this surgery is not for you, he will let you know that. I like that about him because my prior surgeon did not have the same commitment to my recovery or health. Dr. Ganta is strict about the post surgery diet and excercise. The aftercare has been structured with regularly scheduled appts. I would give Dr. Ganta 5 stars out of 5 stars overall. Both his surgical competence and beside manner are great. THANK YOU Dr. Ganta!!!!

Becky99

This should say it all: It’s been my experience that hospital staff generally do not comment on doctors. So, when I had the swallow test before being discharged after the Lap Band procedure, I asked the technician what would happen next. She told me that the radiologist would look at the results then call the surgeon’s office, then the surgeon would contact the hospital about releasing me. She asked who my surgeon was. When I told her Dr. Ganta, she told me to scratch everything she just said because Dr. Ganta likes to see the test results with his own eyes because he is very meticulous and wants to make sure his patients are ok. Later, a nurse who found out Dr. Ganta was my surgeon made a point of telling me that she was so happy that Dr. Ganta was practicing in Austin and that, in her opinion, he is the best. Now, when hospital staff offer unsolicited kudos about a doctor, that’s the one for me. Dr. Ganta never made me feel like I was being rushed or part of a cattle call. I felt he was very thorough. His office staff is great…expecially Joy!

Well here Iam 4 years out and still a patient of Dr.Ganta. He did my surgery 4 years ago in Harvard IL. And I just flew down to see him in Austin Tx on the 3rd of April. I wanted to show him and tell him once again how greatful I am for what he did for me and my life,He is still as wonderful now as he was 4 years ago. He was very thourgh considering he hadn’t seen me in 2 years. And I must say I was quite happy to hear that I was above average 78% to exact.for being 4 years out.I have had no problems what so ever with the surgery. And I’m looking forward to seeing him again next year.If anyone is considering having this surgery and having Dr. Ganta perform it I can assure you are in the best hands possible he will be with you the whole way like I said I’m 4 years out and he was just happy to see me and my sister as we were to see him and he remebered everything about us.If at anytime you have any questions please feel free to email at sumarchell@yahoo.com. Please don’t look any further for a surgeon go with Dr. Ganta you won’t be sorry…

* What was your first impression of him/her? That he was smart- even though I had to help him with the projector in his presentation- I figured what the hey- he’s a surgeon, I’m a systems analyst, let’s work it out! Seriously though- he is a very kind, caring individual. How did your impression change over time? Just more confident in knowing that I made the right decision. * How would you describe his/her office staff? very helpful- I call almost every other day, and they don’t ever act annoyed. They might be- but the pretend to not mind it :) * What did you like least about him/her? His office chairs- but he knows this- we’ve had a discussion- he’s moving offices, so I’m not gonna be too hard on him. * What should future patients know about him/her? His sense of humor is slight, but very witty- He’s just good- and your safety comes first. * How much does he/she emphasize aftercare? He’s devoted to his patients. * How did he/she address the risks of surgery? diagrams, coffins and pictures…not really- but he’s forthcoming about it. He gives you all the information you need * How would you rate him/her overall? 1-10 – I’d give him a 10 * Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great? Surgical competence- both are important, and he’s good at both- but since I was self pay- I didn’t care how \”nice\” he was or wasn’t- I needed to know- without a doubt- he was confident in his ability and on his game-I met with 3 different surgeons before I chose him. Best choice I ever made.

Initally, my surgeon was Dr. Patrick Dillawn, I have now switched to Dr. Ganta and am very happy! He is very personable and goes out of his way to make you comfortable. I would highly recommend his services to anyone considering this surgery!!!

MizBriz

Dr. Ganta and his office staff are very nice. When he walked into the room he was very quiet and soft spoken, he answered all of the questions my husband and I had, and he was very nice. He seems to be genuine and has a good bed side manner from what I can tell. Dr. Ganta’s office staff have been nothing but nice and helpful to me in everything I have asked about and my whole process so far. I should be finding out my surgery date any time now. I am thinking it will be scheduled for late Jan 2007., which will be a nice BDAY gift for me because my bday is Jan 9th. I think Dr. Ganta is a great DR.

torissa

Dr ganta has been great. From the first time a met with him he seemed very capable and caring. He has always been accesible and visited me several times in the hospital after surgery. His staff is also very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend him.

I had LapBand Revision/ Gastric Bypass surgery with Dr Ganta on Oct 20,2006. I orginally had another surgeon and came to Dr. Ganta for a 2nd opinion because I was having problems with my Lapband and was not getting the help I needed from my surgeon. Dr, Ganta actually answered the phone when I called his office for information, He spoke with me for a long time and answered so many of my questions just during that phone call. My impression of him after meeting him was even better! (I was already impressed by the phone call) He ordered several tests and actually came to the testing to see for himself what was going on. How many doctors would do that? What really impresssed me too was how caring he is. He listened to what I was saying. He addressed all of my concerns and thoroughly explained my options and what was involved in my surgery and my post op care. He is very strict in his post op diet, which while it has been difficult, I know it will be worth it in the end. He is a very competent surgeon, with a great bedside manner. His office staff is wonderful! Joy and Dana are the best! One thing that really means a lot to me as a patient is that I feel like Dr. Ganta and his staff know me for me. I am not just another patient. I know if I ran into to any of them in the grocery store, they would recognise me. When you make a commitment to have surgery like this it is a life long commitment and it is nice to feel like my doctor shares that commitment. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Ganta! He is the best!

ozfan

Dr. Ganta was a true God send for my wife and I. We met him as he was relocating to Texas and we had been through various trials with another bariatric surgeons group. Dr. Ganta immediately set our minds at ease that he would serve as our advocate in getting the surgeries. Less than 6 months later we were scheduled for surgery after having struggled for two years before meeting him. Dr. Ganta is a wonderful and well educated surgeon who exhibits bed side manner second to none. He has built a team of professionals who are equally willing to support every step of the process. Dr. Ganta has a great aftercare program that motivates you to become reacquainted with your new way of living. I thank Dr. Ganta for giving me a new lease on life and I recommend him to everyone I meet. On a scale of 1 to 10, Dr. Ganta is most deserving of a 10. There is no other surgeron who possess that complete skill set in bariatric surgery. I was banded on 6/1 and weighed 316 and as of 9/25, I’m down to 265.

antoniogreen

Dr. Ganta performed my surgery on 8/16/06. Let me tell you – he is excellent! I checked out three different surgeons and he was definitely the one for me. My first impression of him was very positive and only got better as time went on. He is kind, patient, experienced and knowledgeable. Before AND after the surgery, he was always attentive to me. He answered the, seemingly, thousands of questions I had and has been a delight to work with. Dr. Ganta is excellent in both surgical competence AND bedside manner. And, his reputation speaks for itself. I HIGHLY recommend him! Feel free to email me if you have any questions or want further information. -Bonnie Connor bonnie@reverendconnor.com

bonniecnr

Dr. Ganta is kind, patient knowledgable and treats his patients with dignity. He took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure. He put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Ganta takes all the time you need and doesn’t rush through appointments. He answers all your questions. I totally trust Dr. Ganta. He has excellent skills as a surgeon. He is no longer at Harvard but in Crystal Lake. I plan to seek him out for advice on PS. Dr. Ganta is definitely a 10.

meena

Seemed very serious, yet cracked a smile at my nervous humour, did not push any certain type of surgery, gave me the pros and cons of lap and bypass.. Office staff is excellent,

marco G.

First impression of Dr. Ganta was that he was extremely intelligent. I loved his assistant Dr. Bryan. She was exceptional to talk to. My impression never changed I just learned Dr. Ganta is a type A personality & that is what you want with this type of surgery. Their staff is unbelievable. The hospital has only 17 rooms!(It is expanding) Its a small town hospital with small town hospitality. Alot of there help came from Northwestern, so no need to question their expertise. I had my own nurse! My surgery had to be converted to open, which is rare. I had scar tissue from my hysterectomy that wouldn’t let Dr. Ganta see. He tried for over an hour, but had to convert. Dr. Ganta has won awards for “suturing”. He has a 0% for any leaks, & that is your #1 concern with this surgery. The rest, in my opinion is up to you. You have to walk when you’re exhausted from the drugs. I walked 2 hours after waking up & took myself off the morphine the next day. Its not easy, but you have to set your mind to it before surgery.

Kristi T.

He is very quiet, but knows exactly what he wants from you. He has made a very strict diet, but one that allows you to heal properly before introducing solid foods and one that will keep you on

Michelle M.

Dr. Ganta is quiet spoken, he immediately puts you at ease. He’s very thorough in his explanations. He takes as much time as you need to be sure that you completely understand all the risk and benefits, and that this is the right discision for you. His office staff thus far has been very polite and prompt in their responses to phone calls. The entire staff seems to truely care about their patients.

mikspi1

Dr. Ganta was a very caring and attentive doctor. His fellow Dr. Vincis is very soft spoken and listens very well. Dr. Ganta also did my sister’s surgery. I would recommend him to everyone is this area.

Andrea E.

Dr. Ganta is very gentle and quiet spoken, he immediately puts you at ease. He’s very thorough in his explainations. He takes as much time as you need to be sure that you completely understand all the risk and benefits, and that this is the right discision for you. His office staff thusfar has been very polite and prompt in their responses to phone calls. The entire staff seems to truely care about their patients.

Rhonda R.

Dr. Ganta is a very caring Doctor. He makes sure that you understand all the risk with this surgery. I was very impressed with him through the whole consult and the pre-testing before surgery. I have work with his partner Dr. Seegers at the hospital that I work at. I have known Dr. Seegers for a long time and feel at ease known that he will assist Dr. Ganta with my surgery. Dr. Ganta has a great aftercare program that he makes you follow. So far I would rate him and his staff excellent. I will let you know how everything went with the surgery! The only negative problem that I had was the waiting for some of the test that I had.

Jim S.

Dr. Ganta takes his job very seriously but is very nice. He has a very strick program he expects his patients to follow. I felt that my health was well looked after. The aftercare program is excellent. His staff and the staff that take care of you in the hospital are all great. The risk of the surgery is explain in detail more than once. Dr. Ganta leaves no stone unturned when it comes to making sure you understand the surgery and what could happen and thats before during and after. He is very cautious in every way when it comes to letting you go home from the hospital. He whats to be sure you are doing well. All in all I felt I got excellent care from the start. As far as his surgical competence and bedside manner, Dr. Ganta and Dr. Vinces are great.

Debbie C.

Dr. Ganta is a superior surgeon. He was very honest in describing that this is tool and not a fix. He didn’t hide the risks involved, but also made sure that I wasn’t afraid and remained calm. From the first time I met him he has always been caring and interested in me. After my surgery, I contacted his office with questions and concerns and he never made me feel like I was “wasting” his time. He is very concerned with aftercare and stresses this during consultation, pre-op and post-op. His bedside manner was not only great to me, as the patient, but also my family. He is one of the finest doctors I have ever met and I would not hesitate to recommend. His staff is superior also. His assistant and nurses are so caring and friendly. They always returned calls, not always in the time frame I wanted, but they did return them. (**as I learned—please remember they return calls in the order of urgency**). I also learned that sometimes my post-op appt’s were running late, but discovered that they do because Dr. G and his staff are intent on making sure all their patients questions are answered and/or he is attending to a patient with urgent needs. Dr. G and Harvard Hospital are truly wonderful! My only complaint is per my family and friends — the chairs in the waiting room/patient room were uncomfortable to have to sit in for hours.

LisaL.

Dr. Ganta is wonderful. He is extremely thorough and well-prepared before he will take anyone into surgery. It’s my opinion that he wants to prepare for any possible problems before they can occur–that way, his patients will do as well as possible and have fewer negative side effects. He is very quiet and soft-spoken. His office staff is wonderful as well. In my opinion, it can take some time to hear back from them when you call, though, so make sure that you are persistent and they will eventually get back to you. Many of the nurses and techs who work in the program have had the surgery and are willing to be very open and honest about their experiences and answer any questions that a pre-op may have. I even had a radiology tech “flash” me to show me his scars.:)

StacyA

That he’s a doc who knows a lot about people and the help that this surgery will be to them. I have grown to admire him even more as the months have passed and my weight has come down. He has a great office staff and they will help in any way they can. There is nothing bad to say about Dr.G. He’s just perfect in my eyes. You couldn’t get a better doc any where in the world. Yes, Dr. G. and his staff talk alot about aftercare and how important it is to fellow the aftercare program to stay healthly. He pulls no punchs about the risks involved in this type of surgery. He lays it all out on the table. This is a very serious operation, not to be taken as a quick fix as some people will want to believe. He is an A+++ in my book. I have trusted him with my life one time and would not think twice about doing it again. You are putting yourself in very good hands with Dr.Ganta. He great!

Right off the bat I knew I liked Dr. Ganta. He is personable, doesn’t mind a little joking and is genuinly interested in his patients. He and his staff seemed to have all the question answered before asked and their info. packet is soooo well thought out and put together. They are right on top of things and are all so kind and friendly. I don’t think I could have found a better surgeon. If you are looking into wls, check out Dr. Ganta and Harvard Regional Bariatric Hospital.

I first met Dr. Ganta at a seminar in February 2003. I was impressed with him from that first meeting to the present. He seems to really care about his patients. Most of his office staff are pretty good. However, I think that their practice is growing too fast and they can’t seem to keep up. You have to usually call them 2 -3 times before you get a call returned. Also, he sees patients right in the hospital – it seems it would be better if he had an office for his patients to see him. He makes sure you understand what is going to be happening to you and stresses that you must exercise and watch what you eat after the surgery. I would give him a good overall rating. He seems to really know what he is doing nad has a concern for his patients.

Dr. Ganta is a quite man that has the best bed side manner I have ever seen. When he listens to you and your concerns he is REALLY listening to you! I checked with other doctors in this area but found none that could compare to the compassion that I felt Dr. Ganta expressed. After the surgery, Dr. Ganta and his staff keep a close eye on you and will talk to you anytime you need a friendly voice or advice. They have a counseling class the first Tuesday of each Month to help you deal with the changes going on with your body and mind. I recommend Dr. Ganta to everyone that I talk to that is interested in the Bariatric Surgery. I trust this man so much I talked my sister into visiting him. Her surgery is on April 8th!
